KARACHI - Federal Ports and Shipping Minister Babar Khan Ghauri said that all out efforts will be made to secure the release of MV Shahbaig along with 29 member crew onboard, which was hijacked by Somali pirates on Tuesday. He was talking to the media after the signing ceremony of a contract between the Karachi Port Trust and China Harbor and Engineering Company for the execution of Pakistan Deep Water Container Terminal. He said that the government had no confirmation about the ship under the SOP and as soon as they got confirmation they would start making efforts to get the ship released. To a question, he said that he had no idea about 50 Pakistanis made hostage by Somali Pirates and that he would ask the Director General Ports and Shipping to publish the list of these hostages. To another question, he said he would ask the Gwadar Port chairman to investigate the issue of Ship grounding as to how much damage had been done by Capt Nauman Alvi for the second time over the last 4 months. He informed that a flyover near Lyari by KPT was on the cards.
