Dense fog continues to blanket vast areas of country including Punjab, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, leading to suspension of traffic on main thoroughfares and accidents. Fog disturbed arrivals and departures of scheduled flights to and from Allama Iqbal International Airport. Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had to suspend several flights as visibility dropped to zero at Lahore's airport. In addition, GT Road and Islamabad Motorway also remained in the grip of thick fog. Inspector General Motorway said that traffic has been suspended from Thokar Niaz Baig to Khankah Dogra Interchange. Meanwhile at least 10 people died and 11 others were wounded in separate traffic accidents in Punjab and Balochistan due to the ongoing spell of dense fog. According to reports, four people were killed in Faisalabad due to different crashes. In Chiniot, a passenger bus collided with a tractor trolley, killing three people and injuring five. Similarly, eight vehicles collided with each other in Naseerabad district of Balochistan, leaving three persons dead. Visibility is down to 20 meters on Lahore Motorway. Several domestic and international flights were cancelled at Lahore airport due to low visibility.
