Gas supply to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations was suspended in some divisions of Punjab for two and half days (60 hours) on Monday while the supply to CNG pumps in Sindh and Balochistan will remain suspended for two days. Four regions of Punjab are facing gas closure from Monday under the gas load management plan. CNG will remain suspended in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sahiwal and Multan regions for next two and half days starting from Monday 6am. Punjab is seriously hit by gas shortage as the production has reduced by 150 million cubic feet. Sources said that due to gas scarcity, CNG sector of the province will be facing loadshedding for three days instead of two and a half days. Lahore, Gujranwala, Sahiwal and Multan will face gas closure from Monday through Wednesday. While CNG supply will remain suspended in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree,Attock, Chakwal, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur from Thursday to Saturday. On the other hand the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced to suspend gas supply to CNG stations in Sindh and Balochistan from Monday 09am to Tuesday 12 noon. According to the company, the two provinces will face shortage of 200 MMCFD of gas owing to repair work at Kadanwari Gas Field; however, domestic users and Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) will not be affected with this cut. Managing Director (MD) SSGC's Dr. Faizullah Abbasi, said closure of gas supply to industries has also been sought under Gas Load Management Plan. If not possible, industrialists would be asked to voluntarily slash gas usage by 35 percent, he added.
