Benazirs Assassination Case: Arrest warrant issued for Pervez Musharraf

The anti terrorism court in Rawalpindi has issued a bail-able arrest warrant for the arrest of former President Pervez Musharraf and has ordered him to appear in court on the 19th of February. On Saturday an incamera hearing of Benazir Bhutto Assassination case was held in Adiala Jail before Judge Rana Nasar Ahmed Khan of Special anti terrorism court number 3. Police produced accused, Aitzaz Shah, Abdul Rashid, Husnain Gul, Rafaqat, Sherzaman, Saud Aziz and Khurram Shehzad before the court. Prosecutor Ch Zulfiqar pleaded for non-bailable arrest warrant against Pervez Musharraf, arguing the former president has been named as accused in the interim chalan presented to the court. FIA said that attempt was made to involve Musharraf into the probe, but he is not available. He said that the statement given by Brigadier (retd) Javed Iqbal Cheema and Eijaz Shah was given on the say of former President Pervez Musharraf therefore in the light of this statement the arrest warrants of Pervez Musharraf be issued. The court admitting the plea issued the bail able arrest warrants of former President and court ordered Pervez Musharraf to appear in court in the 19th of February. In a previous hearing, the FIA listed former President Pervez Musharrafs name among the accused in the charge sheet of the Benazir Bhuttos murder case. Meanwhile in a separate development Khalid Qureshi Head of the joint investigation team, in the murder case of Benazir Bhutto, has been replaced by Wajid Zia. According to FIA spokesman, Head of the investigation of the Mumbai bombings, Wajid Zia has been made the new head of investigation for Benazir Bhuttos Murder case.
