KARACHI (Online) Federal State Minister for Ports and Shipping Nabeel Gabol on Monday strongly condemned the Lyari search operation and said Interior Minister Rehman Malik was just trying to save his own skin. Why is there talk of operation in Lyari and not in other parts of Karachi like Landhi, Korangi, Azizabad and Usmanabad? he asked. Talking to a private TV channel, Gabol said Rehman Malik was just worried about saving his own skin. If he had wanted to conduct an operation, he should have done it against land mafia, drug mafia and other criminals, he added. Demanding an immediate end to the operation, he said no one had the right to harass innocent workers and voters of the PPP. He said the government should stop making the people of Lyari scapegoat if it was under any pressure to launch operation against criminals, land mafia and drug mafia. He said he would talk to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani about the operation and the attitude of the Interior Minister.
