ISLAMABAD (APP) Private security companies are recruiting untrained guards and are just fleecing the private departments, individuals by charging high sums for security duties in the wake of growing concerns over the law and order situation in the federal capital. According to a survey, many of the private security companies in the federal capital are focusing more on making money than providing adequate service. Clients in the capital city complain that the private security companies are ignoring the quality of their employees and the employees provided by the companies are untrained and equipped with defective arms. A client of Private Security Company told APP that Private security companies are supposed to train their guards or hire ex-servicemen, but in reality they are not following these rules. A security manager of a private security company based in Islamabad, on condition of anonymity, told APP that some of the companies have training facilities for their employees but most of the companies don't concentrate on enhancing the security skills of its employees. According to a survey, most of companies do not pay salaries to the guards on a periodic basis, while payment of some companies are too low to satisfy its employed guards who sometime perform duties for more than 9 hours a day. A 40 years old guard of a private company, Rasheed Ahmad told APP that he has not got his last month salary so far. He said that he is a retired soldier, but my company did not provide me weapon. Another guard said that the company pays him a monthly salary of Rs 7000 while the company charges more than double charges from its clients. Some of the companies have increased the monthly salaries of their guards, consisting of former army jawans and civilians, to 12000, while the salaries for former special services group commandos have been raised to 16000 rupees or more. But the majority of them are still paying low salaries with no proper facilities for their guards. Private companies need to train their guards for providing good security to citizens and must revisit their charges.
