KARACHI - As many as twelve people, including five political workers, were shot dead in separate incidents of violence here on Wednesday. According to reports, three workers of Awami National Party (ANP) and two activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were shot dead in separate incidents while panic gripped the Gulistan-e-Juhar area. According to details, in the first incident unidentified armed men targeted an activist of ANP within the remits of Gulistan-e-Juhar Police Station and managed flee from the crime scene. Police said that the deceased namely Khayal Wazeer Bangash was shot dead near ANP Ward office located in Pehlwan Goth where armed men came on a motorbike and fired multiple bullets resulting in the death of Khyal Wazeer Bangash. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities and was handed over to the family after autopsy. Following the incident, the political rivals collided and exchange of fire continued. As a result, another activist of ANP Saleem Durrani was shot and shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he succumbed to his injuries. ANP spokesman when contacted said that Saleem Durrani was kidnapped before killing. He said that the deceased was the activist of ANP Pehlwan Goth Ward and used to run a fruit stall in the same area. The third activist of ANP, Shahid Ghouri, was targeted in the same area when unidentified armed men riding on a bike opened indiscriminate fire on Ghouri, resultantly he received bullet injuries and died on the spot. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. Gunshots echoed in Gulistan-e-Juhar where commercial and non-commercial activities remained suspended and intermittent firing was continued despite the deployment of heavy police contingents. The police have registered a case against one Mudassir and others but failed to arrest any of them. Meanwhile, an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was shot dead by unidentified armed men within the remits of Khokhrapar Police Station. According to details, the deceased, identified as Adil Ahmed son of Abdul Sattar, was killed by unidentified armed motorcyclist, who was wearing helmet. Police said that deceased was an active worker of MQM unit 98 and termed the incident as target killing. In another incident of firing that took place in Khairabad area of Mangopir Police Station, another MQM activist was shot dead while three others sustained bullet injures. Police said that the victims, including Shakir Ali 35, Saderuddin 25, Khurram 26, Shabbir Ahmed 40, were standing near Qazzafi Chowk when armed men on a motorbike reached there and started indiscriminate firing. As a result all the four persons sustained bullets wounds and were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced Shakir dead while admitted rest of the victims with critical wounds. In another incident of violence, a police head constable was killed while two others got wounded here in the limits of Orangi Town Police Station. The deceased was identified as Rana Sohail alias Akhri Baloch, 38, while injured including Omer Khayam and Naushad were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment and other legal formalities. Police officials said that the deceased cop was posted in the South Security Zone and had come to Orangi Town to visit his in-laws when the unidentified persons targeted him near Qazzafi Chowk. Resultantly, he died and two others were injured. Police officials said that personal enmity might be the reason behind the incident. Meanwhile, a young man was shot dead in the limits of Mochko Police Station where unidentified culprits killed the victim identified as 28-year-old Wali Hassan, son of Noor Mohammad when he was sitting at a grocery shop near his residence located at Allah Dad Colony in Baldia Town. The victims body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy. In another incident, a body of a youth was found near Labour Square, Super Highway within the jurisdiction of Gulshan-e-Maymar Police Station.
