At least 6 policemen killed, 24 injured in Bakakhel police station suicide blast

At least six security men were killed and 24 others were injued in suicide attack at Bakakhel police station in Bannu, while two suicide bombers were arrested in injured condition, a private TV reported. A suicide attacker rammed an explosive-packed vehicle with Bakakhel police station building at Bannu-Miranshah road, which demolished the building. According to reports around 150 policemen were present in the premises when the building was attacked. A suicide bomber rammed a car packed with explosives into a suburban police station in Bannu, southwest of Peshawar, killing six policemen and wounding 23 others, police said. "Among the injured are 17 policemen, three paramilitary personnel and three suspects who were in lock-up," police chief Iqbal Marwat told media. "The police station chief was badly wounded and had received threats of a suicide attack," he added. At six persons were killed while 24 others were injured, several of them said to be in critical condition. Still many policemen said to be trapped under the debris of the building and rescue operations were underway to retrieve them safely. The injured policemen have been admitted in district headquarters hospital in Bannu. Security forces have cordoned off the area and Bannu-Miranshah road has been closed for traffic.
