ISLAMABAD - The Prime Ministers Staff Colony is the latest victim of the US land grab in the diplomatic enclave. This Colony houses the staff of the PM Secretariat, mostly the lower cadres. Unfortunately its location comes within the Diplomatic and to make matters worse for the poor occupants, the Colony is in close proximity to the US embassy. This has created panic within the US diplomats and covert operatives as no Pakistani - not even one working for the PM Secretariat can be security-cleared. So the poor Pakistani residents are being moved out forthwith, most probably to the G-6/1:1 quarters near Aabpara. These quarters had lain empty for some time and belong to the CDA. During the Lal Masjid operation, the rangers moved in to these flats and when they vacated, the Islamabad Police jawans moved in - as they had no other housing. So now what will happen? Will the jawans be moved out or will the employees of the PM Secretariat be left on the roadside with their belongings like the Chak Shahzad affectees? Either way, it is a shame to see Pakistani citizens removed from their homes merely to satisfy US security phobias.
