QUETTA - Life in Balochistan on Monday returned to normalcy after 4-day of violent riots, strikes that left more than one dozen people dead including policemen while property worth millions of rupees was set on fire against killings of 3 Baloch leaders. In Quetta all shops and business centers reopened on Monday amidst tight security and traffic was plying on roads normally. The educational institutions remained closed as Balochistan govt had decided to close the educational institutions for three more days. Heavy contingent of Frontier Corps and police and Balochistan Constabulary were deployed at all sensitive areas of the City which carried out patrolling in the City to maintain law and order. On the call of Pakistan Supreme Court Bar Association, lawyers boycotted proceedings of the courts. President SCBA Ali Ahmad Kurd had announced boycott of courts across the country as protest against killing of three Baloch leaders. 'Killing of three Baloch leaders is a regrettable on which all people are protesting, said former President Balochistan Bar Association Baz Muhamamd Kakar. He said that an impartial investigation should be conducted into the killing of Baloch leaders and responsible persons should be brought to justice. Situation in Panjgour, the home town of slain leader Lala Munir remained tense to some extent. Demonstrators took out rallies and staged demos in the morning to protest killing of their leaders and arrest of district President of Balochistan National Party. They pelted stones on police upon which police fired shells of tears gas and resorted to aerial firing to disperse angry protesters. The other towns of Balochistan including Turbat, Mand, Gwadar, Khuzdar, Kalat, Nushki, Kharan, Hub, Sibi and Machh remained calm Monday, where people opened their shops. The tribunal comprising Justice Nadir Khan of Balochistan High Court to investigate the killing of three Baloch leaders would start its proceedings on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the legal fraternity on Monday boycotted proceedings of BHC and all its subordinate courts in protest against murders of the three Baloch nationalist leaders. The boycott call was given by president SCBA-SCRA, Ali Ahmed Kurd, as protest against murders of the president Balochistan National Movement, Ghulam Muhammad Baloh, central executive, committee member BNM, Lala Munir Baloch and Baloch Republican Party-BRP leader Sher Muhammad Baloch whose bodies were found in Turbat. Meanwhile, senior leader of ANP Quetta Chapter Aurangzeb Kasi while condemning the killings said that targeting innocent people by Baloch armed resistance organisations would harm Baloch movement. 'We the followers of Bacha Khan dont oppose struggle of any nation but we oppose killing of innocent people under the grab of national struggle, he added. Addressing a Press conference at Quetta Press Club on Monday, he said that due to firing of unknown people my son-in- law who had come from Sindh to participate in a wedding ceremony was killed while another Pashtoon was critically injured at Jinnah Town. He said that later on, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) an armed group claimed responsibility for the attack which was a regrettable act and we condemn it. He opined that saboteurs of Baloch Pakhtoon unity and solidarity were not well- wishers of this land while in such circumstances silence of Baloch leadership over this injustice was regrettable. 'Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri, Sardar Attaullah Mengal and other Baloch leaders should clear their point of view over the target killing of Pashtoons, Hazaras and other innocent people, he added. He said that Pakhtoon were also struggling for their existence but being the followers of Bacha Khan did not believe in violence. He demanded of the Baloch nationalist and political leaders to come forward and condemn targeting innocent people.
