Two 220KV power supply towers blown up in Dera Allahyar

Unidentified miscreants blew up two 220KV power supply transmission towers with explosive device here in Dera Allahyar on Monday, disrupting power supply to most of the areas in Balochistan. Police said that two 220KV power supply transmission towers were blown up with explosive material, raising the shortfall to 1,000 MW in the province besides disrupting electricity to many areas in the province. Sources said that rural areas were facing electricity loadshedding of 21 hours while the urban areas were facing 12 hours power cut, halting normal activities of the citizens and also creating disturbances for the locals, especially at the Iftar and Sehri time in the holy month of Ramazan. The destruction of two towers in the terror-hit areas has created problems for the farmers where irrigated lands were in dire need of watering while farmers will not be able to run motor pumps and tube-wells to irrigate their lands. If the electricity supply was not restored in time then farmers would bear the brunt in shape of loss of annual agricultural income. Officials concerned have kicked off repair work but restoration of electricity would consume time. Security forces cordoned off the site of blast immediately and started search to nab the miscreants.
