PM urges for seeking guidance from Allam Iqbals philosophy to tackle challenges

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has urged the need for seeking guidance from Allam Iqbal's philosophy to tackle challenges being faced by the country on Saturday. He was addressing Allama Iqbal Awards ceremony at Aiwan-e-Iqbal here in Lahore on Saturday held under the aegis of Iqbal Academy Pakistan. The Prime Minister said the nation should make the golden principles of unity faith and discipline as their main objective. He said that Allama Iqbal's philosophy of Khudi teaches us to emerge as a self-esteemed nation. He said our nation has full capability to face any kind of challenge as we are not afraid of these challenges. He said that guidance will be sought from his philosophy to tackle the challenges like poverty unemployment and social injustices. The Prime Minister said the nation is not suffering from permanent crisis and the day is not far away when sense of peace stability and justice will prevail in the country. The Prime Minister said that every possible measure will be taken to promote studies regarding Allama Iqbal. The Prime Minister declared to celebrate the year 2012-13 as Iqbal Year. He announced a grant of fifty million rupees for various projects of the Iqbal Academy Pakistan. He also announced to Nishan-e-Iqbal Achievement Award for the top position holder of Philosophy Department of the University of Punjab and the Government College University Lahore. He also directed to launch Iqbal Fellowship to promote Iqbal's teachings. Earlier the Prime Minister distributed fifteen Presidential Iqbal Awards for the work on Allama Iqbal. Among them ten awards were given to authors of books in Urdu and English while two foreign language awards were given to Miss Natalia Pregarina of Russia and Mr. Abdul Raheem of Bangladesh for contribution in Russian and Bangla languages respectively. Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa and Allama Iqbal's son Justice Retired Javed Iqbal were also present on the occasion.
