Protest for release of abducted police recruits

Families and friends of abducted police recruits on Monday staged a protest demonstration for their immediate release in Peshawar. Police used tear gas to disburse the protestors and baton-charged them. The angry protestors burnt the tire and closed the GT road and Motorway by creating barricades. The protest lasted for more than four hours, causing huge traffic jams on both sides of the roads. The CCPO and other top officials reached the area to hold talks, however, protestors refused to end the demonstration after which the police used tear gas and baton-charged them. The police and protestors exchanged stones. The protestors were demanding immediate the release of abducted police recruits. It may be mentioned that some armed men had kidnapped more than 30 police recruits of Hangu Police Training Center few
