10 killed in suicide explosion, firing incident in Quetta

At least 10 people were killed and 15 others were wounded when a suicide explosion ripped through a hospital on Friday in the southwestern city of Quetta, triggering firing between Police and unknown suspects. A suicide bomber detonated himself outside the emergency ward of Civil Hospital in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan Province, Police sources informed Online. The explosion took place as people had gathered there to protest the target killing of a bank manager earlier Friday morning. After the explosion, the sources said an exchange of fire took place between police and unknown suspects, adding that the exchange lasted for some minutes. The explosion killed more than 10 people and wounded over 15 others. A DSP Zahir Shah Kazmi, TV cameraman and FIA official were also amongst the dead. Member of National Assembly PPP Nasir Ali Shah was amongst the injured. The killed cameraman working for Samaa Private TV Channel, as the hospital is located in one of the high security zones of Quetta. Panic gripped the city after the explosion and relatives of patients gathered outside. Television footage showed the badly damaged emergency ward, with the windows of several vehicles and ambulances shattered. Journalists were at the hospital covering the aftermath of Friday's morning shooting death of the bank manager. The emergency room was full of the man's friends and relatives when the bomber detonated his weapons at the gate. Police cordoned off the area and has launched an investigation.
