ISLAMABAD Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Sunday urged the government high-ups to take notice of irregularities in Gilgit-Baltistan elections. Addressing a press conference, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Dr. Farooq Sattar warned to boycott the election results if proper action was not taken about rigging of polls. He also appealed to President, Prime Minister and Governor Gilgit-Baltistan to take notice of the rigging otherwise his party would boycott re-polling in LA-3 constituency. He alleged that the elections in Gilgit-Baltistan were rigged and the government machinery was used to achieve the desired results. To a question, he said that the constituency LA-3 was the main centre of the polls rigging where the candidate of MQM Capt (Retd) Hadi Hussain was contesting. MQM Deputy Convener said that MQM candidate Capt (Retd) Hadi Hussain was also attacked by unknown, which was a undemocratic practice. He also called for re-election at 9 polling stations in Gilgit-Biltistan. Farooq Sattar said that elections were rigged with the help of civil administration, police and Election Commission to gain majority. He said that in the polls all possible tactics were used to get their candidates elected. He said that workers of MQM were harassed in the election and polling was also started around two hours late from schedule. The announcement was made almost after 36 hours to convert defeat into victory.
