LAHORE-PPPs Central Secretary Information, Fauzia Wahab on Thursday said that PPP would soon quit coalition govt in Punjab and sit on Opposition benches following PML-Ns decision to stay away from the Federal govt. Addressing an emergency Press conference here at Lahore Press Club (LPC), she said PPP had already made its remaining part of Punjab coalition conditional to PML-Ns re-joining of Federal cabinet, and since they have decided not to become part of the central govt, the PPP will also quit Punjab govt in few days. She said PPP Ministers in the provincial Cabinet would formally relinquish charge of their respective departments after President Asif Ali Zardaris return from China. Replying to a question, she said PPP did not want to use State resources to run the party in Punjab, and hence it would feel comfortable while sitting on Opposition benches. Fauzia was confident that PPP and PML-N would not resort to confrontation again despite not joining each others govts in the Centre and Punjab. 'The PPP respects PML-Ns decision, and this would not have any negative impact on implementation of CoD and proposed repeal of 17th Amendment, she observed. The PPP MNA expressed the hope that the two parties would continue to work together and strengthen democracy in the country. Responding to another question, she said no name had yet been finalised for the slot of Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly, as party chief would take some decisions in this regard. She criticised sasti roti scheme of Punjab govt, saying that it was nothing but a political point scoring. She believed that subsidy on wheat flour would have negative impact on countrys economy at the end of the day. The PPP leader was of the view that govt should adopt such long-term policies that strengthen countrys economy.
