He said that Pakistan had paid heavy cost in terms of human and financial losses while combating the evil forces of extremism. Brig Gen Mark S Martins said that his country understood Pakistans difficulties and acknowledged its efforts and key role against the war on terror. The Minister also conveyed Pakistans concerns regarding statements by the American leadership pointing towards Pakistan linking it with the recent terror plot in Times Square. He said that Pakistan should not be held responsible or blamed for individual acts. The Minister said that the statements really hurt the sentiments of the leadership and people of Pakistan which itself was the worst victim of terrorism and had rendered enormous sacrifices than any other country in the world while waging the war on terror. He also stressed the need to expedite the establishment of RoZs in the tribal areas, which can help in creating economic opportunities in the terror-stricken region.
