BB's killers to be brought to justice: Kaira

ISLAMABAD - Minister for Information Qamar Zaman Kaira on Monday said that action would be taken against whosoever found involved in the killing of Benazir Bhutto. In the light of the United Nations Commission Report, involved persons would be brought to justice, the Minister said while talking to reporters after inaugurating the newly constructed building of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA). To a question, the Minister said that incumbent Government never believed in political victimisation but it would leave no stone unturned in the probe of assassination of Benazir. Benazir would always remain in the hearts of people. Her assassination is a great loss for the world, Kaira added. The Information Minister said that proper security was not provided to Benazir by the previous government as well as concerned officials. After the attempt on her life in Karachi, Kaira said, PPP had been demanding of the then government to ensure stringent security measures for Benazir. When asked about the security cover provided by PPP workers, Kaira was of the view that political workers were not trained in security matters so they could not be blamed in this regard. He further said that it was the political workers who sacrificed their lives to save her life in the assassination attempt in Karachi. When asked about former president Pervez Musharraf, he said that it was political wisdom of PPP leadership that compelled Musharraf to shed his uniform. He said that the party ousted Musharraf from the presidency without shedding any blood. To yet another question about ongoing National Energy Conference, the Minister said that Government would soon make suitable strategy to tackle energy issue. He expressed confidence that the Government would soon be able to devise an effective strategy to tackle the increasing power demand.
