ISLAMABAD PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif on Monday called upon the Government to evolve a national strategy to tackle the grave electricity crises on the war-footings. In his brief consultative meeting with other party stalwarts here at the Punjab House, the former prime minister said that it was the prime responsibility of the Government to steer out the masses from their agony caused by the unprecedented electricity crises. The Government needs to focus on this issue on war-footings, insiders quoted the party chief as commenting on the issue while addressing the meeting. Sources said that Nawaz Sharif while discussing the situation emerged as result of lengthy and unscheduled load shedding called for immediate steps to address the issue, as it would further aggravate the masses problem because of simmering summer, if the Government did not tackle the issue on war footings. The PML-N leader also called for adequate steps by the Government in tacking the unprecedented price hike in the country, which had added to the miseries of the masses. The meeting also discussed the political situation in the country with special focus on the passage of 18th Constitutional Amendment to undo controversial amendments made in the 1973 Constitution. Nawaz Sharif, according to the sources, expressed his satisfaction over the landmark 18th Amendment and said the move would help streamline the governance system and in resolving the masses problems at the gross root level. He said such measures were imperative to govern the country through a genuine parliamentary system of democracy as well as economic development to help resolve the basic economic problems of the people by creating employment opportunities. The meeting was attended by Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal, Pervaiz Rasheed ,Saleem Zia, Anjum Aqeel, Dr Tariq Chuadhry, Chaudhry Jaffer Iqbal and Abdul Qadir Baloch.
