Rawalpindi/Jammu (Online) Pakistan and India exchanged firing at the Krishnaghati sector of Chakoti and Neelam Valley. However, Pakistan has refuted Indian allegation of firing at Indian checkposts in Mendhar sector by the Pakistani security forces. ISPR Director General Athar Abbas while talking to Online said there had been no incident of firing in the Poonch sector of Mendhar from Pakistan Army; therefore, there is no truth in the Indian reports that Pakistani forces violated the ceasefire. However, he affirmed that there had been unprovoked firing from the Indian side in Krishnaghati sector on Pakistani check posts and the Pakistani side retaliated. Pakistani authorities condemning this act had proposed a flag meeting which was held on Thursday between the local commanders in which they showed severe remonstration on the violation of cease-fire pact. The Indian media had accused Pakistani Army of opening fire on three Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishnaghati sector in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir early Thursday. According to the reports, Pakistani troops targeted Kranti, Ghoda and Kirpan posts of the Indian army along the LoC in Mendhar area, about 230 km north of Jammu at around 12.30 am. Soldiers guarding the posts were caught in heavy firing which lasted for more than one hour. Pakistani Army also fired mortars and rockets, the reports had alleged.
