ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Muslim League-N on Friday submitted a privilege motion to the National Assembly against the Supreme Court judge Justice Zawar Hussain Jafari for attempting to infringe the supremacy of the Parliament by ordering stay order against the working of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Education. Moved by Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education Abid Sher Ali and Hanif Abbassi, it was stated in the motion that the Parliament was the supreme body and Supreme Court judge was not empowered to stay the proceedings of the Standing Committee or summon its Chairman to the court, hence Justice Zawan Hussain Jafari had committed the breach of the privilege of the House's committee. The three-member bench of apex court on Friday had dismissed the petition filed in Farah case, which proved that Justice Zawar's decision of granting stay order was wrong. Earlier, Supreme Court of Pakistan had issued a stay order, suspending the National Assembly Standing Committee's probe into the marks increase case of Farah Hameed Dogar, the daughter of Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Abdul Hamid Dogar. Former Deputy Attorney General had filed a petition requesting inactivation of the Standing Committee into the Farah Hameed's case. Supreme Court (SC) judge, Justice Zawar Hussain Jafri, giving his remarks, said the Standing Committee had no authority to demand records in connection with the above investigation or carry out the probe. SC had also summoned the Chairmen of Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) and NA Standing Committee on Education to appear before the court and adjourned the hearing in the case with date in office.
