QUETTA Unidentified armed men shot dead three police officials including a Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) and wounded two others, apparently in an incident of target-killing at Jail Road in Quetta on Saturday morning. According to police sources, DSP Habibullah Qaisrani and five other personnel of Balochistan Constabulary (BC) were heading to their office in an official vehicle when unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle sprayed bullets on the vehicle with automatic weapons. Three policemen including DSP Qaisrani, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) M Aslam and constable M Shafiq died on the spot, while two other policemen including driver Nazeer Ahmed and constable Yasir were received injuries. Bodies of the policemen and the injured were shifted to Civil Hospital. Soon after the incident, a large number of police and Frontier Corps men rushed to the crime scene and cordoned off the entire area. A senior police official told The Nation that according to initial reports it is an incident of target-killing but it is premature to say anything definite at this stage. No group claimed responsibility for the attack so far. Police handed over the bodies to the heirs after completing legal formalities. Sources said DSP Qaisrani and constable Shafiq were belonged to Dera Ghazi Khan while ASI Aslam was a resident of Khushab. Police has registered a case against unknown persons and started investigation. Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani has condemned the incident and directed law-enforcement agencies for the immediate arrest of the attackers. Meanwhile, Namaz-i-Janaza of the deceased policemen was offered at Police Lines which was attended by a large number of people and senior police officials.
