5.8 magnitude Quake jolts Islamabad, AJK and other parts of country

A magnitude 5.8 quake hit upper parts of the country and Kashmir on Friday morning, sending residents rushing from their homes in panic. A quake jolted Lahore, Peshawar, Islamabad, Muzzafarabad, Mansehra, Abbotabad, Chitral, Sialkot, Kark, Balakot, Neelum Valley, Chakothi, Rawalpindi, Gojar Khan, Deena, Sohawa, Jehlum and other areas. Two children were reportedly sustained injuries. Director General of metrological office Chaudhry Qamar-uz-Zaman told Geo News the epicenter of the quake was in Baramula area of held Kashmir. A newly constructed government school building was partially damaged in Muzzafarabad. The U.S. Geological Survey measured the tremor at 5.8 magnitude and put the epicenter 26 km beneath the earth.
