QUETTA - A man was killed and eight others including two children sustained serious wounds in a car bomb explosion at Sariab Road of Quetta on Monday. Police officials said unidentified people had fitted explosives to a car which was parked near a govt degree college on Sariab Road. The explosives went off with a huge explosion and damaged a car and a passing by rickshaw, killing one person on the spot and causing serious wounds to eight others including two children, they added. The injured and dead were shifted to the Civil Hospital Quetta where the dead man was identified as Naheem. Some injured were identified as Khan Agha, Azatullah, Habibullah, Dost and Ghulam Muhyiddin. Hospital sources said that the condition of some injured was serious. A large number of police and personnel of Frontier Corps (FC) rushed to the blast site and cordoned off the area. The blast badly damaged five shops, nearby carts and smashed windowpanes of nearby buildings. According to bomb disposal squad officials, over 30 Kilogram explosive material was used in attack and was blasted through a remote controlled device. Police suspected the target could have been shops owned by members of Shia community. Meanwhile, doctors despite being on strike, provided medical aid to the injured of bomb blast after declaring an emergency in the hospital.
