'N' concerns on KLA conveyed to UK: Shahbaz

LONDON - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said he has conveyed his partys concerns over Kerry-Lugar Bill to British Foreign Secretary David Miliband and thanked him for extending unconditional support to Pakistan. Talking to mediamen after his meeting with Miliband here on Tuesday, Shahbaz said Punjab would get share of 200 to 300 million pounds from 600 million pounds financial assistance given by Britains Department for International Development. He said the aid given by London would be spent on social sectors as well as educational reforms. He said a strategy was being devised for transparent use of this aid. The CM said the Punjab government had decided to close down educational institutions in view of terror threats. Giving details of his meeting with British Foreign Secretary Miliband, the CM said the British diplomat supported anti-terror steps being taken in Pakistan, especially Punjab and gave assurance of full cooperation in this regard. Strongly denouncing the cowardly terrorist attack on the Islamic University in Islamabad, Shahbaz said it was a matter of grave concern that educational institutions were being bombed. We will have to overcome our weaknesses to cope with the menace of terrorism, he said. During the meeting, overall security situation of Punjab was also discussed.
