Southern Punjab including Multan faces 575MW shortfall, due to which load shedding period reaches 14-hour. In Faisalabad, the load shedding duration has reached 16 hours and traders have decided to protest against the unscheduled load shedding from April 23. While in other provinces, 10-12 hours unscheduled load shedding has become a routine matter. According to sources, the country has a capacity of producing 17,000MW, but due to shortage of gas and furnace oil, thermal production has decreased by 50 percent and hydal production has also decreased by 70 percent.
