QUETTA No group has claimed the responsibility of kidnapping of four officials of an international NGO, Mercy Corps from Zhob so far and police has found no clue of their whereabouts. Four employees, two of them senior officers one from Islamabad, were kidnapped on Thursday evening when they were returning to Quetta from Zhob after visiting Qila Saifullah district in connection with a project. A senior police official told The Nation that police were raiding different areas of Qila Saifullah and other adjacent districts to find out the kidnapped NGO officials. We have interrogated many people in the area but no progress so far, he said and added that security and checking of vehicles had been beefed up to foil any attempt of kidnappers to shift them to Afghanistan. However, he said that motive behind the kidnapping of NGO officials is yet to be ascertained whether they had been kidnapped for ransom or they had other designs. It may be mentioned here that incidents of kidnapping for ransom have increased manifold. in Balochistan particularly in Quetta. and government has failed to check such incidents.
