Pockets of resistance still exist in Swat Valley

SWAT - The security forces shot dead 10 more militants here at different areas on Tuesday, besides apprehending three militants and demolishing the houses of 12 terrorists and their cronies. The military action also led to the recovery of three hostages abducted from Dheri, Mingora. The recovered persons included MPA Dr Shamsher Ali Khans brother Mohammad Ali, Saad and Asghar. Taliban abducted four persons including these three some two months back. Later, one brother of Dr Shamsher Ali was brutally assassinated by Taliban while the remaining three were shifted to unknown place. The officials at Mingora confirmed that Shamsher, Saad and Asghar had been recovered from Talibans hideouts. All of these three were later shifted to Saidu Sharif. About the details of casualties of militants, seven were killed at Kanjo while three were shot dead at Darzyal, Shah Dhehri. Three militants apprehended from Islampur were identified as Bakht Baidar, Aslam and Sadiq. Meanwhile, the return of internally displaced persons is in progress and thousands of families have arrived in the scattered areas of Mingora. ISPR adds: During a search operation at Damgarh and Mamderai, the security forces spotted five terrorists clad in burqa bidding to escape from the area. They were apprehended along with SMGs, while five other terrorists were killed. During exchange of fire with terrorists, three soldiers including a junior commissioned officer embraced Shahadat. The security forces discovered a cave and found bodies of 10 terrorists inside it during the search operation at Kalagai Banda. Local terrorist commander Sardar Ali and Qalagai Banda Nazim who was facilitator of terrorists were apprehended along with three vehicles. In a search operation in the area around Piochar, the security forces recovered 216 boxes of ammunition of various calibres from the hideouts of terrorists. The security forces during search operation at Ganjir near Topsin killed one terrorist while another was apprehended. The ISPR update further says that till date, 197,285 cash cards have been distributed amongst the internally displaced persons of Malakand, while Rs 3.29 billion have so far been withdrawn by the IDPs. Online adds: The security forces Tuesday arrested two top militant commanders from Tehsil Landi Kotal of Khyber Agency and recovered weapons from their possession. The militants were also presented before the media. Militant commanders Zahid and Razaq belong to banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and were involved in supply of weapons to different organisations in Khyber agency. The militants used to transport weapons from militant Noor Muhammad living in Afghanistan to Pakistan. After the arrest of militants, the security forces said the supply of weapons to militants had been cut off.
