U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton while lauding the sacrifices being rendered by Pakistani security forces and nation in war against terrorism has termed the upcoming strategic talks between US and Pakistan as an "opportunity to forge even closer tied between two nations." She said that the United States is supporting Pakistan's efforts to strengthen democratic institutions, foster economic development, expand opportunity, and defeat extremist groups who threaten Pakistan. Clinton, speaking on behalf of the Obama administration and the U.S, also offered congratulation to Pakistan as it prepares to mark its National Day today (Tuesday). "The people of the United States will stand by and support Pakistani efforts to build a peaceful and prosperous future. We wish you a happy Pakistan Day," Clinton said, according to a statement released by the State department. US, she said, values Pakistan's role in war against terrorism, as it is playing frontline role in war on terror. She hoped that the upcoming talks between US and Pakistan would boost relations of both countries. According to the statement, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will welcome her Pakistani counter part and other officials for the first-ever strategic dialogue. Clinton will host Pakistani Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other Pakistani officials in Washington "for our first Ministerial-level U.S.-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue.
