Forceful demos in IHK against arrest of Dr Fai

In occupied Kashmir, forceful anti-India and pro-liberation demonstrations rocked several places including Srinagar, Kulgam, Sopore, Islamabad and Shopian. The protests were held against the arrest of the Executive Director of Kashmiri American Council, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, gang rape of a Kashmiri woman by Indian troops in Kulgam and arrest of girls in Sopore. The protesters demanded of the US administration to immediately release the Kashmiri leader, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai. The people paid rich tributes to the detained leader for his services to the Kashmir cause. The demonstrations in Kulgam and Sopore were marked by complete strike. The occupation authorities placed the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and other Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Bilal Ghani Lone and Zafar Akbar Butt under house arrest while Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front-R leader, Javed Ahmad Mir was detained at Mehraj Gunj police station in Srinagar to prevent them to visit Kulgam. Indian police personnel used brute force against protesters in Mazgam area of Kulgam. The enraged people set a police van ablaze. The APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front and the Bar Association of the occupied territory in their statements in Srinagar condemned in strong terms gang rape of a Kashmiri woman in Kulgam. Earlier, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Zafar Akbar Butt held separate meetings with a Sikh leader, Samranjeet Singh Mann. They thanked the Sikh leadership for their support to the Kashmiris struggle for right to self-determination. APHC leaders, Nayeem Ahmed Khan and Yasmeen Raja in their separate statements in Srinagar expressed concern over the arrest of Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai. APHC-AJK chapter in a meeting in Islamabad also denounced the arrest of Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai. The meeting was chaired by the Convenor, Mahmood Ahmed Saghar.
