Non-strategic outcome of Pak-US talks

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Friday said that the US-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue helped both sides understand each other but she also admitted that they had failed to reach an agreement on every issue, reports a private TV channel. Addressing a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi at the end of the Dialogue, Secretary Hillary termed the talks successful. She said the US wanted to solve the problems, including that of electricity, being faced by Pakistan. Washington will also provide funds to Pakistan to combat terrorism, she said, adding that Taliban posed threat to millions of people. The top US diplomat said the US gave preference to smooth supply of electricity and water in Pakistan. She reiterated that Taliban were destroying future of Pakistan Terming the Dialogue friendly, Foreign Minister Qureshi said both sides made progress in finding a solution to the problems in the talks. He made it clear that Pakistan would not tolerate human rights violations. The Minister said the US wished to improve living standard of Pakistanis. Pakistan-US relations are much more stronger than our expectations, he stated.
