New Zealand extends its troops deployment in Afghanistan till 2010

New Zealand has extended the duration of its troop deployment in Afghanistan for another year until September 2010, PM John Key said on Tuesday. The tour of duty for the 140-member provincial reconstruction team in Bamiyan province, west of Kabul, had been due to end in September this year. "The situation in Afghanistan requires an ongoing international programme of security and development assistance to the government of Afghanistan," Key said in a statement.
