Gap between demand and supply of power has surpassed 6000 megawatts for the first time in the history of the country and load shedding duration has gone infinite. Well placed sources told Online Monday overall power production through hydal and thermal sources stand at 10125 megawatt while demand has risen to 16300 megawatt. 3035 megawatt electricity is being generated through hydal sources, 5562 megawatt through IPPs, 1466 through thermal and only 62 megawatt through rental power stations. Sources told further people have to face power shortfall over 6000 megawatt for the first time in the history of the country. This shortage has led to limitless duration of load shedding all over the country. Sources told ministry of water and power had received no request from PEPCO seeking exemption for VIPs feeders from load shedding and if any such request comes it may be considered.
