Floodwater swamps Qubo Saeed Khan

LARKANA\\SHAHDADKOT Floodwater has forced its entry into Qubo Saeed Khan tehsil as efforts to save the city from inundation have failed. Seventy per cent city has submerged and thousands of people have trapped. Communication between Sindh and Balochistan remains suspended through Shahdadkot. Authorities issued a warning to people living near FP Bund and adjoining areas in Warrah and Nasir Abad tehsils of Kambar-Shahdadkot district to evacuate. While the Army, Rangers and local administration were making hectic efforts to strengthen the embankment to save Shahdadkot city, and it was decided to cut Ratodero-Gwadar Motorway at three places to divert floodwater to Qubo Saeed Khan. Resultantly, the floodwater moved to RBOD and Zero Point at Hamal Lake and Manchhar. About 20,000 people have been stranded while several adjoining areas of Kambar-Shahdadkot evacuated and about 95 per cent people including women and children have moved to different cities of Sindh including Larkana, Hyderabad and Karachi. To save Shahdadkot and several other districts and towns including Larkana, Dadu and all its tehsils, the administration had planned to divert the floodwater to RBOD-111 Canal from where it could head towards Manchhar Lake but despite taking route of RBOD, the floodwater took opposite way of FP Bund, which would cause inundation of Kambar, Warrah, Nasir Abad, Gaji Khuhawar, Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah and Dadu. As this calamity was not enough, dacoits started their mugging spree and looted several shops and houses in Shahdadkot and Qubo Saeed Khan. Dhani Bux Brohi, a resident of Shadadkot, said that thieves had stolen valuables, grain and cattle from his house.
