ISLAMABAD (NNI) The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) Saturday moved the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to hike power tariffs by Rs.3.06 per unit. The application to increase the power tariff was lodged with the authority responsible for managing power tariffs to take effect from the month of August under monthly fuel adjustment. It should be mentioned here that power to the tune of 8,875 Giga Watts worth Rs57.4 billion was sold to power distribution companies during August. Reference fuel cost was pegged at Rs3.60 per unit for August. The actual fuel cost of the electricity remained at Rs6.42 per unit in comparison with the reference during the month.
