A shutter-down and wheel-jammed strike is being observed throughout Balochistan on the eve of third death anniversary of former governor and chief minister of the province, Nawab Akbar Bugti. Bugti was killed on Aug 26, 2006, along with a number of his body guards and associates in an air strike - ordered by then President General Pervez Musharraf, in mountainous range of Kohlu where he was shifted to avoid detention by security forces. All the major business avenues were closed in provincial capital Quetta and other major towns and cities of the province while the attendance in the offices and educational institutes was also remained very thin than usual, the channel said. Strict security measures have been take throughout the province to avoid any untoward situation with heavy deployments of police and other paramilitary forces at sensitive points. Section 144 has also been imposed and pillion-riding on motorcycles and holding public meetings and rallies have been banned in the province.
