ISLAMABAD - The name of Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, deposed chief justice of Pakistan, echoed again in the apex court building on Thursday after more than 10 months when Acting Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan expressed his fondness for the former top adjudicator of the country. "I am missing Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry," Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan told reporters after taking oath as Acting CJ of Pakistan here at the apex court building. Justice Sardar Raza is among those judges of the apex court and High Courts who have staged come back recently after being re-appointed by Pakistan People's Party (PPP) government. Earlier, senior apex court judge Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar administered the oath to Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan who will hold charge as Acting Chief Justice during the absence of Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar. Justice Dogar has preceded abroad. Justice Raza is likely to become next Chief Justice of country in March 2009 on retirement of Justice Dogar as he is the most senior judge after the incumbent. Talking to media after the oath taking, Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza, said it was quite difficult and nerve testing for him to stay away from dispensation of justice during the last ten months which he spent at home after being deposed by former President Muhsarraf in November last year. "I am assuming the office of CJP not to over run anyone but have done so to perform the acting duty," Justice Raza said in a light vein in reply to a query.
