Azim quits PML-Q secy info post

ISLAMABAD - Former minister of state for information Senator Tariq Azim Sunday resigned from his position of PML-Qs Central Secretary Information. Senator Azim resigned just six days after partys central polls in which Ch Shujaat Hussain and Mushahid Hussain Sayed secured partys top slots unopposed. Talking to TheNation, Azim said that he had no grievance against the partys central command and was also not affiliated with the like-minded group. I had earlier tendered my resignation from the partys position when PML-Q was defeated in 2008 general elections but the top command had requested me to continue working as the partys information secretary, he added. He also said that he belonged to Pakistan Muslim League and would remain attached to the party. When asked which part of Pakistan Muslim League he would remain affiliated with, he said with big laughter that something should remain hidden. He said that after winning the partys top slot, Ch Shujaat would constitute a new team and could appoint another information secretary. Accepting the resignation of Azim, PML-Q President Ch Shujaat said that the Senator was being given an important responsibility. APP adds: When contacted, a party official confirmed that Senator Tariq Azeem has tendered resignation from the party office and PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has accepted his resignation. In an exclusive talk with this news agency here, PML-Q Secretary Finance Imitiaz Ranjha confirmed that Tariq Azeem has resigned from the party slot. He said that Ch Shujjat Hussain has received his resignation and also has accepted the resignation tendered by him. Ranjha said that Tariq Azeem has resigned due to his personnel reasons and Ch Shujaat Hussain has promised him for accommodating to some other party office. However, party sources informed that Tariq Azeem has resigned as he had some connection with PML-N leadership and wanted to join the PML-N. The sources said that Tariq Azeem was desperate to join the treasury benches but was not offered any positive response by the PPP. Later, he contacted PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif and his resignation was a part of his ambition because he did not see any future of Chaudhrys of Gujrat.
