Six of a family burnt alive

KARACHI - Six of a family were burnt alive and two injured when a fire broke out in a house located at Zahidabad within the limits of Sharifabad police station. According to details, Sirajuddin, 50, head of the family, his four children and a sister-in-law were burnt in fire here on Wednesday night at around 10:45pm. They were shifted to Burns Ward of the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) where doctors failed to save their lives. The incident took place at Sirajuddins house when he was sitting in the upper portion with his wife and other family members. They were busy discussing some domestic matters when suddenly they heard their two daughters screaming at the ground floor. When they reached, they saw their daughters caught in fire. They tried to rescue them, but the fire caught them too. The victims include Sirajuddin, 52, his three young daughters Sanobar, 23, Amber Bano, 20, Maryam Bano, 17, his son Mubashir, 20, and Naghma, wife of Nizamuddin, 29. Sirajuddins brother, Nizamuddin, told that at the time of incident Amber was in the courtyard of the ground floor while her elder sister Sanobar was in the kitchen. The fire broke out due to gas leakage in the stove. Mubashir died the next day of the incident while rest of them died on Sunday. Siraj sustained 35 per cent burn injuries, Sanobar, 76 per cent, Amber, 76 per cent, Mubashir, 95 per cent, Naghma, 82 per cent, while the remaining two nine-year-old Misbah and Munni had also sustained minor burn injuries, explained Nizamuddin. It is to be noted here that Sirajuddins two daughters, Sanobar and Amber, and son Mubashir were engaged and their weddings were scheduled in November.
