Nawaz terms fake degree holders 'rotten eggs'

LAHORE PML-N Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has strongly ruled out any compromise on the issue of fake degrees and said, his party would go against the fake degree holders no matter their Government in Punjab came under threat on account of it. While talking to media men at Lahore General Hospital after inquiring the well- being of PML(N) MNA Javed Hashmi on Monday, Nawaz said he was fighting against the fake degree holders not treating it a political matter but as a matter which can be termed as an act of worship. He termed the fake degree holders as 'rotten eggs and 'black sheep who must be banished from politics. He said he had also directed MNA Abid Sher Ali, NA Standing Committee Chief on Education, to get firm on this issue. He said not only of politicians but fake degrees in every department must also be detected. While responding to a question on the action against his party MPA Sanaullah Mastikhel for moving anti-media resolution in the Punjab Assembly, he said he well bore this matter in his mind and now when he was home, he would take note of it. To a question on three years extension in the service of Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kiani, he said his party stand on it is quite clear and that is that institutions should be strong. Giving a roundabout answer to this question, recited a line from Faiz Ahmad Faiz poem 'or bhi gham hey zamane mein mohabbat ke siwa, adding, he has answered this question. He said his party struggled against Pervez Musharraf for the sake of democracy in Pakistan and his party had also signed Charter of Democracy for the same purpose. Nawaz Sharif pleaded for strict implementation of Charter of Democracy. He said his party wants to see Parliament strong and the budget of all including the Army, coming before it. As to the march for the judiciary, he said his struggle was not for the sake of any government office or personal gain but for the independence of judiciary and restoration of judges. He said in the larger national interests and for democracy, his party joined the PPP government in the Centre but they were obliged to quit the Cabinet when President Asif Ali Zardari sidetracked from the promises. To a question that after extension in the service of the Army Chief, the impression is that he has been left alone, Nawaz Sharif recited the lines 'tunha hi chaley they janbe manzil... log aa kar miltey rahey or karwana banta gaya. He dispelled the impression of his being alone and said, they all must think of the country and move forward. However, he emphatically said, time would tell who has been left alone. Supplementing answer to the question on the Mastikhel-tabled resolution, Nawaz Sharif termed it an undemocratic move and referred to the second resolution submitted to dilute effects of the previous one against media and said he had a role in the second one. He said he was resolute on not allowing anyone to exploit the party platform for his person. Earlier, Nawaz Sharif arrived here from London where he went some two weeks ago, for the medical check up of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.
