Pakistan, India DGMOs meet to defuse tension

ISLAMABAD - Military Operations commanders of Pakistan and India on Sunday exchanged views on the prevailing situation on the border between the two countries during a contact made on hotline. "Yes, the Director Generals, Military Operations, of the two countries had a contact", a senior security official confirmed to TheNation saying 'It's a routine matter'. The official refused to divulge details about the issues taken up by the two commanders. However, observers following the developments between the two countries have attached greater significance to the contact in the wake of heightened tension between the two South Asian nuclear neighbours. Indian threats of direct action and deployment of its armed forces to the border had also pushed Pakistan a few days ago to move limited number of its troops to Indo-Pak border as a necessary defense measure. Bilateral relations between the two countries had soared after Mumbai attacks for which New Delhi has been blaming Islamabad that Pakistan-based elements are responsible for the attacks.
