America asked to stop ISI bashing

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has called upon the US to stop bashing ISI as it could cause serious damage to the efforts in fighting terrorism, well-placed sources told TheNation on Wednesday. As per the sources, Pakistan told US Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke during his recent visit that ISI was a national agency working for the countrys security. They further said that Pakistan had also shared with the US and NATO forces the evidence of Indian involvement in aiding to TTP Chief Baitullah Mehsud and his terror network. They said that Pakistan had provided documented and video evidence to the US Special Envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke and ISAF chief Lt Gen Mc Chrystal about Indias covert links with Baitullah Mehsud through its various consulates in Afghanistan. The sources said that Holbrooke assured Islamabad that he would take up the matter with New Delhi at diplomatic level. The Afghan government was also told to stop the Indian consulates in Afghanistan from carrying out subversive activities against Pakistan, the sources added. As per the sources, Pakistan for the first time has made it clear to the NATO and US that it was high time that assistance to terrorists, being targeted by its security forces, should be stopped from Afghanistan so that war against terrorism could bear fruits. Pakistan, the sources said, has also called upon the US to share relevant information with its intelligence agencies about Baitullah Meshuds movements, his satellite pictures and drones air strikes.
