ISLAMABAD - Top officials of the countrys security agencies are still unsure about the exact number of recruits trained by notorious Inter Risk Security Company owned by former Pakistan army officer captain (Retd)Ali Zaidi in the name of providing security to some diplomatic missions. The official sources told TheNation, on condition of anonymity, that the information collated from different sources revealed that the trained recruits might vary in number from 70 to 200. The investigation into the companys record further divulged that there might be dozens of trainees who were in the process of getting training from the Zaidi-led Inter-Risk Security Company, but they had to call off training programmes as a result of the crackdown against them. It would therefore be premature to say how many individuals have 'benefited from Zaidis 'skills, the sources emphasised. It has been learned that Pakistani security agencies were having a hard time in tracking down the recruits, as no record regarding their identity had been found yet. The investigations show that the original documents of recruits were taken into possession by Zaidi and they could be forged, tampered or manipulated, with the involvement of a foreign embassy so that the traces of recruits could not be found in case the authorities intended to nab them, the sources added. They said that there was high possibility of the US Embassy being involved in a cover-up about the trained lot. Zaidi alone could not do that, whether he had been assisted by some foreign hand is yet to be determined but the chances of the involvement of American Embassy cant be ruled out, informed the sources. It is believed that the recruits are mostly deployed with Americans present in tribal belt, Malakand Division and Peshawar and are providing them security apparently. However, behind the curtain revelations indicate that the banned Inter-Risk Security Company and its employees are directly interlinked to Blackwater or Xe Worldwide, posing a serious threat to Pakistans security. According to the information available with this newspaper, most of the recruits are young and unemployed, hailing from NWFP region, while some of them are former low rankers of law enforcement agencies who were offered lucrative salaries and additional benefits. A detailed investigation into the entire Blackwater episode would bring to light some appalling revelations in the days to come. It is highly likely that there might be several other organisations like Inter-Risk or Care and Craft running foreign agendas in the country in the garb of providing security cover to diplomats.
