Five including DSP killed, 15 injured in Peshawar suicide blast

A suicide bomber blew himself up near a police vehicle here in Peshawar on Monday, killing five persons, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rashid Khan and injuring over a dozen others. According to Police, the attack took place on Kohat road near Ring Road Bridge here when a suicide bomber blew himself up near the DSP van. As a result, five persons including DSP Rashid Khan died while at least 15 others were injured. After the incident, the rescue teams rushed to the scene and transferred the dead and injured to lady reading hospital, where emergency was declared. Two vehicles were completely destroyed in the bombing. Speaking to reporters, Peshawar District Coordination Officer (DCO) Siraj Ahmed confirmed that five people were killed in suicide attack. He said that the bomber was on foot and was waiting there for the police vehicle. The police cordoned off the area and started investigation. Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwas senior minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour has reiterated his governments strong resolve to continue war against militants. Speaking to reporters at the blast site, he termed the attack a reaction to the ongoing operations against militant groups in the tribal areas. He said that such attack would not deter their resolve to flush out militants.
