Brazilian Ambassador thanks Lyari residents for support to his country\'s football team in the ongoing World Cup

ISLAMABAD- On the occasion of the FIFA Football World Cup-2014 Brazil, the Ambassador of Brazil, H.E. Mr. Alfredo Leoni, sent the Protocol Officer of the Embassy, Mr. Mazher Rafiq, to Lyari, Karachi, to deliver a message of appreciation to Liyarites for their support for the Brazilian Football Team and for the great esteem they show for Brazil and Brazilians.
Mr. Mazher Rafiq was received at the Liyari Football Academy by the Academy Head, Mr. Mohammad Baloch, together with the Head Coach, Mr. Javed Baloch, the Pakistan International Footballer, Mr. Abdul Aziz Baloch, and about 250 football lovers of Liyari.
On the occasion, Mr. Rafiq presented the letter of appreciation of Ambassador Alfredo Leoni. In this letter, Ambassador Leoni informed that from now on he considers Liyari as the "Honorary Brazil" and Liyarites as "Honorary Brazilians". Together with the letter, Mr. Rafiq forwarded the
Official Football of the World Cup, produced in Sialkot, as well as other gifts such as 100 footballs, 200 caps, 150 posters of the Brazilian Football Team, magazines and books about Brazil and football in Brazil.
In his response, Mr. Mohammad Baloch warmly thanked Mr. Rafiq for his presence as well as the Brazilian Ambassador for the kind letter and gifts. He said that he was very touched by the gesture of the Ambassador to consider Liyari as the "Honorary Brazil" and Liyarites as "Honorary Brazilians". In fact, he added, whenever the Brazilian Football Team plays everybody in Liyari feels like Brazilians.
After the ceremony, a friendly football match took place in honor of Mr. Mazher Rafiq. Also, the live football world Cup-2014 match between Brazil and Chile was showed on a big screen.
