Lions crushed, Eagles score easy win in One-day Cup


LAHORE/KARACHI - Asad Ali bowled SNGPL to crushing 10-wicket triumph over Lahore Lions in the second round of the One-day National Cup Division-II group A match here at LCCA ground on Wednesday.
Lahore Lions bundled out on paltry 81 runs in 33.2 overs. Only Farhan Asghar and Saad Naseem could reach double figures. Asad Ali claimed four wickets for 14 runs. SNGPL, in reply, chased the target easily without any loss in just 11.1 overs with Imran Ali scoring unbeaten 33 runs and Ali Waqas remained unbeaten on 41.  Peshawar Panthers beat KRL by 28 runs at Arbab Niaz Stadium. Peshawar Panthers, batting first, scored 227 runs in 48.3 overs with Mussadiq Rasool scoring 66 runs and Akbar Badshah 32. M Irfan took 3-35 and Saeed Anwar Jr 2-39.  KRL, in reply, were all out on 199 runs in 48.3 overs. Bazid Khan made 60 rims and Zulfiqar Jan 34. M Fayyaz claimed five wickets for two runs and Riaz Afridi 3-23.
Meanwhile, Karachi Zebras succumbed to five wickets defeat at the hands of Lahore Eagles at the National Stadium. Four Lahore bowlers Emmad Ali, Asif Raza, M Irfan and Tanzeel Altaf equally shared eight wickets to send Karachi Zebras innings tumbling to 199-9. Lahore Eagles took achieved the target in 41st over for loss of five wickets with Rana Adnan top scoring 58 in 80 balls.  In another match of Group B at NBP Stadium, Karachi, Quetta Bears thrashed Multan Tigers by 140 runs.
Quetta Bears scored 326 for the loss of five wickets in 50 overs with Bismillah Khan scoring impressive 142 runs and Abid Ali 73. Haziq Habibullah got 4-64. Multan Tigers, in reply, were all out on 186 runs in 39.5 overs. Najam Abbas made 35 runs and Moinuddin 40. Arun Lal took 3-36, Mohibullah 3-19 and Saeed Khan 2-44.
