PYF 2014 first phase ends

LAHORE - The Punjab Youth Festival 2014 unearthed promising talent at its inaugural neighbourhood and village level which concluded on Wednesday across the province.
The festival which commenced at neighbourhood and village level on November 23 was widely and enthusiastically participated throughout the province. On Wednesday, total 45496 participants took part in various healthy activities of Punjab Youth Festival which was in full swing throughout the province while 17019 were the top performers and earned honours for their areas.
In Lahore alone, 4156 players of 228 union councils participated in 438 events in which 1640 were adjudged as winners. Players from 838 blocks participated in various sporting events. In Multan and district Vehari, 5089 players took part in 1093 areas of 180 union councils in which 2468 players were declared winners. In Faisalabad division, district Jhang and Toba Tek Singh saw participation of 7529 players in 1551 localities of 285 union councils in which 2083 were the title grabbers.
In DG Khan division of district Rajan Pur and Rahim Yar Khan, out of 3200 players of 288 localities of 144 union councils, the winners were 1536. In district Jehlum of Rawalpindi division, total 774 were the participants and 436 were honoured. The district Narowal and Sialkot of Gujranwala division had 355 localities of 230 union councils locked horns in different sporting events and from among 8799 participants 2131 returned smiling.
In district Pakpattan of Sahiwal division, 420 localities of 125 union councils figured in the competitions and produced 415 winners out of 1326 participants. In district Bahawalnagar of Bahawalpur, 753 players of 60 localities of 118 union councils contested to have 337 victors.
