ISLAMABAD - Classic Club snatched victory from the jaws of defeat as they edged out Essco by just five runs to lift title of the Islamabad T20 Cricket Cup played here at Diamond Club Ground on Monday. Classic Club won the toss and opted to bat first. Iqbal hammered 60 laced with seven fours and Sajawal Riaz added 20 to help Classic Club post 144-8 on the board in the allotted overs. Ahsan Kareem clinched 4-36. Essco were on course for a routine victory, as they were well ahead of required run-rate. But Class Club’s Moied made the difference by grabbed three important wickets for 24 runs and restricted Essco Club to 139 in 19.5 overs. Ahsan Kareem made 34. Islamabad Region president Shakil Shaikh was the chief guest on the occasion while ICCI delegation led by executive body member Nasir Mehmood Ch, Saeed Ahmed Bhatti, Akhunzada Faheem, Shabbir Ahmed, Rawalpindi Region head coach Sabih Azhar along with other dignitaries and spectators were also present there.
