Three-member delegation of deaf cricket off to Dubai

LAHORE
A three-member delegation of Pakistan Deaf Cricket Association (PDCA) left here on Monday for Dubai to attend the Deaf International Cricket Council meeting being held there today (Tuesday). The delegation comprises PDCA president Abdul Salam, secretary Irfan Miraj and manager Zaheeruddin Babar. “The main agenda of the meeting is to finalize the dates of inaugural Deaf T20 World Cup which Pakistan will be hosting during the current year,” said Zaheer before the departure. He said they were updating the ICC official for disable cricket Andy Hobbs on the progress being made on hosting the mega event in a trend-setting manner in Pakistan. The PDCA official said that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was fully supporting them and the activities of deaf cricket and it was hoped that with their cooperation and help, they would be able to hold the mega event successfully. “We will be giving a presentation on security measures and allied issues to be adopted for the protection of all the foreign teams and we are confident that the ICC will fully support us on holding the cup in Pakistan. Staging of the Cup will help in sending a positive message regarding Pakistan which is a safe to stage elite sports events.”He expressed his gratitude to the PCB for paying special attention to deaf cricket. “With the continued support of the PCB, we were able to organise the Asia Cup last year in Lahore and we look forward to hold the T20 World Cup this year.”
