Hampshire boss terms PCB Chief as rigid

MUMBAI - Shahid Afridi will not be able to play this season for English county Hampshire, according to Chairman Rod Bransgrove. Speaking to this scribe, he said: "PCB chairman Ijaz Butt is very rigid on its stand and is unlikely to re-issue the No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Afridi and therefore, I don't think Afridi has any chance to play for our county this season". "We were very eager to have Afridi play for us this season and lot of people here were excited when we hired him to play and now it is not only Afridi's loss, but we too are the losers," he further said. "Yes, I did speak to the PCB boss and tried my best to persuade him and also requested him to review the decision but my talks yielded no positive result. I don't know whether Afridi would sue the PCB but we are not taking any action on Afridi for not honouring the commitment. He did turn for the match but was stopped and therefore not thinking to sue Afridi. It is not his fault anyway."
